'Oh crêpe, I forgot it was Pancake Day coming up!' - what we say every year right before we contemplate rushing out to Tesco's for pancake mix or celebrating it out in the city.

If you're looking for somewhere to celebrate this flippin' awesome day of the year. Here are the top 5 places in London we've found that are giving a toss. (Sorry we can't help ourselves...)

1. L'ami malo, Spitalfields

Where better to spend Pancake Day than London’s most stylish, modern crêperie, just around the corner from Frying Pan Alley! Indulge in three delicious courses of crêpes and galettes with a menu packed with both contemporary twists and Breton inspired varieties on the classic English pancake. Savoury galettes are topped with confit duck leg, caramelised pear and red wine jus (£14); Morteau sausage, leek fondue, Jersery Royal New Potatoes and French mustard (£11); or Hepburns smoked ham, duck egg, maple cured bacon and Comté cheese. Sweet crêpes come with fillings from apple compote, vanilla butter sauce and salted caramel (£5.5) to the exceptional crepe soufflé with lemon and blueberries (£9). And they've even got crêpes for sushi such as this tomato and avocado maki! A very apt food fusion for London we think!

2. BubbleWrap, Leicester Square

Why not pair Valentine's Day and Pancake Day together with Bubblewrap's Valentine's Special?
Here's what they say: 'This Valentine’s Day we’re offering our classic waffle filled with coconut cream gelato topped with white chocolate sauce, rose petals and chocolate hearts (of course), you can tailor it with our regular toppings such as raspberry and cream to make it even more fun! These special toppings are limited so come early to get your limited edition Valentine Bubblewraps!' Sounds like killing two birds with one stone! Bubblecones took the food scene by storm in 2017 and you can still see the queues from round the corner in China Town London. Be prepared to wait for this treat.

3. Joe's Southern Table and Bar, Covent Garden

Celebrate Shrove Tuesday at Joe’s Southern Table & Bar in Covent Garden with their Pancake Day special inspired by the Deep South. A crispy fresh sweet tea brined quarter Southern fried chicken served on a bed of homemade fluffy American-style pancakes, drizzled with sweet Jim Beam bourbon maple syrup served at £12.95. This one's for the American lovers out there. Crispy chicken and pancakes are a match made in heaven, and when you're still craving something sweet, their desserts will be just the ticket waiting for you.

4. My Old Dutch, Holborn

The original London pancake house, with a huge range of sweet and savoury pancakes, My Old Dutch is a must on pancake day. Choose from crispy bacon and eggs, apple and cinnamon and the much loved Nutella, all available with lashings of maple syrup. Plus lots of gluten free options too! Their quirky branding will make you feel like you're stepping out of London into Amsterdam or Jamaica! A very fun brand where they go to town with nutella, marshmallows and toppings! Their locations are very student friendly with a popular branch near Drury Lane in between Holborn and Covent Garden.

5. The Breakfast Club

One of London's cult breakfast rooms is growing brand The Breakfast Club, and guess what they've got a Pancake Day Challenge. They say: 'The Breakfast Club Annual Pancake Day Challenge is back to raise money for charity & volunteering projects. Tackle and defeat our 12 stack Challenge in 12 minutes or less = you eat for FREE! Fail? You’ll pay full price and we’ll donate ALL PROFITS to our award winning volunteering programme Good Day Productions. Take on The Challenge all Pancake Day long (13th Feb) across all of our cafs. Find out more here -' That looks like a serious mouthful, but for a good cause, this seems like a great way to celebrate Shrove Tuesday.
