Haché Burgers, Clapham Common

I've been absent on the blogging scene for a bit recently - but I never stop dreaming of yummy food, believe me. It had been months since I'd enjoyed breakfast or brunch so I was delighted to receive an invitation to try Haché - a gourmet burger restaurant with a luring brunch menu.

Haché started out in 2004 in Camden selling damn good burgers to the likes of Amy Winehouse and the borough's trendies. Several years later though they sold it on to the owners of Hush in Mayfair - and Haché went through a bit of a glossier transformation. The question is do burgers need a posh touch? We went to one of their restaurants in Clapham Common to find out on a Sunday afternoon.

Read about posh burgers when I visited the Park Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge for the most luxurious burgers in London:

The brunch menu we tried is available at Chelsea and Balham from 9am-1pm daily and at Clapham 10am-1pm on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays. We had the option to choose from the a la carte or the brunch menu, honestly a difficult decision as the choice of burgers on the a la carte did look super.

We ordered a selection of brunch favourites such as the Brunch Burger, steak burger, smoked bacon, sweet potato rosti, fried Clarence Court egg & coffee ketchup, Waffles with Streaky Bacon, The Full Parisian with scrambled, fried or poached Clarence Court eggs, sweet potato rosti, smoked bacon, Portobello mushrooms, grilled tomatoes with buttered sour dough toast and Honey and Cinammon on Whipped Cream Cheese on Toast topped with blueberries.

One thing that stood out was the value for money. The food tasted great but the presentation of the food could have been slightly better - and the pictures show this. The potato rostis were fantastic (maybe room for an Indian or Thai addition?) and the quality of the beef was great. The service and location are ideal - next to Clapham Common station and outdoor seating for when the summer weather is on your side.

Overall we had a great time and have been tempted to try their a la carte menu the next time we're in need of a good burger fix!
