An evening with the Social Pantry Cafe
On Thursday 10th March, a group of excited foodies arrived at The Social Pantry in Clapham for a dinner that would showcase some of the many talents of its Head Chef, Alex Head. Founded by Head who continues to lead her bespoke Catering company in all of their food pursuits, the cafe can now be thoroughly enjoyed by those who wish to try some delectable food in a relaxed and welcoming space. TimeOut London has already branded it the 'best cafe in Battersea', revealing just some its outstanding finesse and unique edge. The company cater for all kinds of events; from High-End Fashion Shows to Press Launches, Regular Work Lunches and Weddings to name a few. Simply take a look at the 'Case Studies' on their website to find yourself completely blown away by their multidisciplinary and creative team. What really stands out to me about The Social Pantry is their dedication to healthy, seasonal and quality produce paired with their effortless ability to tailor their menu to a client's theme and brief in such a simple yet artistic fashion.

AN EVENING WITH THE SOCIAL PANTRY CAFE
We arrived to be greeted with a glass of prosecco and began the evening with some colourful and appetising canapés. A board of mixed mini vegetables with avocado hummus was a fantastic way to start the evening. The Social Pantry pride themselves off their dedication to fresh and seasonal produce and tasting and savouring some of these seasonal ingredients at the start of the evening was a great way to introduce this as one of their many admirable work ethea. In addition, I loved being able to appreciate the food in its most simple and original form. Next, we tasted some honey’d goats cheese with toasted fennel on rye with micro herb. These were absolutely delicious and so beautifully presented; honey and goats cheese is always a match made in heaven and I loved the choice of rye bread and the unique addition of toasted fennel.
Starters: White Crab on Charcoal Sour Dough with Thyme, Chilli & Lemon Crème Fraiche
Mains: 12 Hour Slow Roasted Ox Cheek with Celeriac Mash accompanied by Grilled Tenderstem, Crumbled Feta and Pine Nuts
DESSERTS: SIPSMITH GIN AND TONIC GRANITA // ORANGE BLOSSOM AND VANILLA PANNA COTTA WITH ROSE AND POMEGRANATE PETALS
This was an extremely memorable evening and I met so many wonderful people including Head Chef Alex who gave me some invaluable advice about breaking into the food industry. Alex is a truly inspirational young chef who is currently pioneering London’s most talented entrepreneurs with a full tour de force. It was an absolute pleasure to meet her at The Social Pantry Cafe along with the rest of the team such as Jenny, Charlotte, Megan, Jack and the team of chefs who were all so positive about what they are doing here. This was a really refreshing experience that deserves increasing merit.
