7 Ways to Wow Your Sweetheart this Valentine's Day in Dubai

It's tough one, we get you. Chocolate and flowers just won't cut it anymore right? So we've compiled a list of unique and truly romantic ideas to show your other half there's no place they'd rather be this February 14th from romantic gestures at extreme heights, classic romantic dinners on the beach, a date like in an 80s American movie, to soaring through the sky with falcons, there's something for everyone in this list.

1. Chase the Sunset

There are many places to watch the sun set in Dubai, but one of our all-time favourite places to dine to catch this magical moment is at Fish Dubai at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi. This totally instagrammable restaurant on the shores of the Mina Seyahi Marina offers dining literally on the beach and you can choose the fish you'd like to eat and it's grilled in front of you in this idyllic garden/beachside dwelling. For Valentine's Day, Fish Dubai will be offering all guests who dine in red a free glass of bubbles! This hotel is also home to some of the most breath-taking proposals and Fish Dubai will have you head over heels with an Aegean Menu of Turkish and Greek delights. Our favourites are the smoked salmon parcels, octopus and mussels and fruity mocktails!

2. Face your fears

Another way to bond with your loved one is to face your fears with them! Dubai Marina has just launched its thrilling zip-line and just 10 minutes away by Zero Gravity you'll find the new Dinner In The Sky. With the choice of Afternoon Tea Service or Dinner with a Magic Show, (yes, all suspended in the sky) this dining experience is one like no other. Suspended over 50m high in the sky with views of Dubai Marina surrounding you, the best time to enjoy this is during their tea service at 5.30pm. You'll get that iconic Dubai sunset and you'll be able to face your fears together. Your seats can lean back, turn around for 360 degree views and the team there will ensure you'll have a fantastic time - they're used to soothing nerves of guests! Weekday tea breaks are AED499 per person and weekend tea breaks are AED599.

3. The Dubai Frame

Following on with experiences from extreme heights, the recently opened Dubai Frame next to Zabeel Park may just be another iconic milestone event that needs to be a part of your relationship. The Dubai Frame comprises a 150-metre-high, 93-metre-wide structure resembling a ginormous gold picture frame. The frame measures 150 metres high and 93 metres wide and was designed by award-winning architect Fernando Donis, who also designed Dubai’s Porsche Design Towers, and the Dubai Renaissance Tower. Look through the frame on one side and you'll get a breath-taking view of old Dubai - and behind you, you can see modern Dubai from the Emirates Towers on Sheikh Zayed Road and beyond. The project is worth Dhs160 million and the floors are even made of glass so you can look straight down! But we're sure you'll be too focused on the view ahead to look down! Tickets are an affordable AED50 making it the perfect sunset idea before dinner.

4. Swan Paddleboating or Jet-Skiing at La Mer

Not only does La Mer Dubai offer some great places to eat and enjoy the beach views, you can also get involved with the watersports there too. Why not take one of their Swan Paddleboats across the shores or if you both love something a bit more thrilling, you can hire jet-skies too! Be sure to bring your swim gear with you and check the weather beforehand - you don't want to catch a chill instead of fall in love!

5. Dubai Safari Park

If you both love animals, why not take a trip to the new Safari Park that's recently opened near Al Warqa. You can find lots of exotic animals living there from chimpanzees, lemurs and hyenas to cheetahs, komodo dragons, toucans, cobras and lots more! Spend the day feeling warm and fuzzy over the baby lions (maybe even broody, too soon?) and you can even enjoy a picnic by waterfall together! Très romantique! An adult combo ticket is just AED85 for couples and drive there together beforehand singing your favourite tunes in the car!

6. Hops, Freakshakes and American Burgers

A bouquet of nuggets, a box of donuts or maybe a Freakshake or two to share this Valentine's? Nothing quite says 'I love you' like American Burgers, Freakshakes and bottles of American hops to transport you to an old-school American diner. We love the sound of the Cotton Candy Strawberry Shake with vanilla frosted rim with blue, pink & pearl chocolates topped with a pink lollipop, rock candy, whipped cream & cotton candy as we do the Brooklyn Blackout Shake with chocolate frosted rim with mini chocolate chips topped with a chocolate brownie, chocolate drizzle & whipped cream too! Think 'When Harry Met Sally', 'Pulp Fiction', 'Just Friends', 'Riverdale' or a steamier Kelis's Milkshake kind of romance at Black Tap Dubai.

7. Sunrise Breakfast on a Hot Air Balloon with Falcons

Need we say more? If you don't mind rising early, take the opportunity to escape to the desert in a hot air balloon, enjoy breakfast as the sun rises and say hello to a feathery friend, the peregrine falcon, who will fly with you during your visit. You'll also receive a gourmet breakfast with hand-cut smoked salmon, caviar, cold meats, eggs benedict, fresh fruit and more! Apparently it's one of the most popular ways to pop the question too! (Not giving you any ideas there, wink wink!) We found Balloon Adventures Dubai who offer adult prices of AED1195 per person and after your Hot Air Balloon Ride, you can drive in a Vintage 1950’s Land Rover to a Luxury Desert Bedouin Camp! A nice change from the hustle and bustle of the city!
