Breakfast at Dishoom, Carnaby Street

Forget Michelin star restaurants, it's trendy hot spots that everyone is anxiously queuing for and dying to visit. Inspired by the fading of the traditional Old Irani Cafe's in Bombay, Dishoom rose up in London to keep the legacy alive and has become a massive hit. They have four restaurants, (in Carnaby Street, Covent Garden, King's Cross and Shoreditch) that branched out from the first in Covent Garden and each one is as popular as the other. The exquisite quality and elegance of Dishoom's food, design and service here is on par, if not above some of London's more pricey favourites. The menu here is surprisingly very affordable. With the decadence of its Bombay-themed interior, crazy amount of hype (everyone was saying 'you HAVE to go') and super locations, I expected Dishoom mains to be at least £12. The mains range between £7.90 and £11.90 and guests often choose to pair their curry dishes with a friend so they get a bit of each. It's no wonder then that Dishoom has become a huge success amongst younger foodies like me who are always on the look out for new restaurants that they can return to again and again without breaking their budget.

Their famous Signature Bacon Naan at Dishoom: The Ginger Pig’s smoked streaky bacon is dry-cured for five days with rock salt and Demerara sugar then cold-smoked over oak chips. £5.50

Fruit and Yoghurt: Fresh mango, grapes, strawberries, blueberries and honeydew melon, topped with creamy yoghurt infused with Keralan vanilla pod, and the London Honey Co’s excellent Buckinghamshire honey. (V) £4.70

Dishoom offer Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with reservation and if you queue, you can usually snag a table with no longer than a 10 - 15 minute wait. The staff are extremely welcoming and down to earth. I'd also like to note to those reading that the staff at Dishoom really go out of their way to find you a seat. I really appreciate that when dining; it makes such a difference to your experience from the moment you walk in. 

The Bacon Naan here is a real treat. All the naan served in Dishoom is baked downstairs in their kitchen and is warm and fresh. The bacon was streaky and delicious and this dish is probably enough by itself. As well as the Bacon Naan at Dishoom, people sometimes come here purely for the Chai. Dishoom have a secret recipe of several different flavours that are unmatchable anywhere else.

I've also had several of the curries here for lunch which were fantastic and there's plenty of options for vegetarians too.  

This is the perfect place if you're looking for a unique experience that ticks all the boxes and is a complete steal. You'll have to join the rest of London who want a taste of Dishoom but a secret insider tip is to go for the breakfast first; there's never much of a queue on a week day!
